MTFA Pays Tribute to Muslim Saint Habib Noh
MTFA presents $50,000 to Hj Md Salleh Mosque to restore and refurbish Habib Noh’s shrine
Kicking off the start of 2023 on a high note, Muslimin Trust Fund Association (MTFA) has officially announced that the organisation will present Hj Md Salleh Mosque with a gift of $50,000. In line with the mosque’s ongoing fundraising effort ‘Project Infaq’, the donation will be used to restore the shrine of the Muslim saint Sayyid Noh bin Sayyid Mohamad bin Sayyid Ahmad Al-Habshi to its former glory.
After his passing in 1866, Habib Noh was laid to rest on the peak of Mount Palmer. Having survived tidal waves, World War II, land developments and demolishment attempts, his shrine and parts of the mosque are in a weakened and vulnerable state today. Still, Habib Noh lives on in the hearts of many, as evidenced by the continual flow of visitors from all walks of life many generations later.
“It is no coincidence that MTFA has chosen to pay tribute to the late beloved Habib Noh. When the founders of MTFA established the organisation in 1904, the Habib Noh Trust Fund was one of the few entities which stepped in to support the charitable causes of the organisation,” said President of MTFA Mr Wasim Abdul Majeed. “Today, MTFA is over 118 years old. We feel it is only right to attribute part of MTFA’s success to the blessed legacy of
Habib Noh; he dedicated his life to serving the community with compassion and excellence, the very thing MTFA strives to emulate every single day.”
MTFA will hand over the donation on 30 January 2022 at Hj Md Salleh Mosque at 2 pm. You are invited to send your crew and journalist for coverage.
